New B. Braun Wave Value Factory

As general planner for the new B. Braun value factory at the site Melsungen, Dr. Schönheit + Partner realized another future factory in Germany. Through the integrated factory planning from inside out, innovative production methods and processes were transferred into the structure and shape of an economic, flexible, and adaptable plant. The production plant for dialysis machines and infusion pumps also includes administrative areas and a new training center. In March 2009 the shell phase started. In the "Avitum Village", which was built in front of the B. Braun City of Industry, marketplaces function as key locations and optimize the interface between man and material.

Total investment 82 million euros,
43,400 m² building space,
completed in mid 2011.

In the Marketplace „Human Being“ Man Takes Center Stage

The term „village“ hits the nail on the top concerning the design as the new production facilities for dialysis machines and infusion pumps as well as the new training center are connected through central marketplaces for human beings and goods. The marketplaces form the central communication points to link-up all working processes within the whole site. Via the marketplaces men and goods spread out over the entire plant. Composed like a mill-wheel the marketplaces ensure short ways and optimize the junctions between human being and material.

B. Braun Production System (BPS) and Training Concept Lead to Lean®

In preparation for the move to the new factory, the change process was accelerated by installing learning centers. Thereby managers and employees gain a better understanding of the system. To ensure the continued success of the B. Braun production systems, managers and selected employees were prepared for their future role by the S + P Academy coaches. They learned how to apply the system, how to improve it, and how to share their knowledge.
